pro-vs-diy-blog-300x300Bed Bug control from InspectorUSA Termite and Pest Control can eliminate the spread of these irritating insects. We can control bed bug infestations which are usually brought into homes and businesses in clothing, luggage and second-hand bedding and furniture. Our trained technicians can eliminate these bed bug intruders. Bed Bugs hide in many areas, such as:

Seams in bed linens and upholstery.
Behind wood trim, wallpaper and light switches.
Inside electrical boxes and floors.
If you notice small brownish or reddish dots on bed linens you may have a Bed Bug problem; these are bed bug fecal spots or droppings. You might also notice swollen red spots on your body, these are where you may have been bitten.

In recent times Bed Bugs have not been as severe problem as in the past, due to insecticides and increased sanitation. However, due to the increased use of baits rather than insecticide sprays for ant and cockroach control in the past decade , bed bug infestations have increased.

Currently this insect can be a pest wherever sanitary conditions are poor, or if there are birds or mammals nesting on or near a house. International travel and commerce are thought to facilitate the spread of these insect hitchhikers, because eggs, young, and adult bed bugs are readily transported in luggage, clothing, bedding, and furniture. There are several species of bed bugs, all of which are pests of humans and domestic animals.

The Common Bed Bug prefers a human host. Related species, such as the bat bug and bird bug, prefer to feed on bats, birds, and other wild hosts, but will also feed on humans if the opportunity arises or the preferred host dies or leaves the roost.

Bed Bug Control Methods

Bed bug control first requires a thorough inspection to identify the pest. Bed bugs are 1/4” long, flat and oval, reddish brown insects. The inspection will also determine locations. After the inspection our technician will design a treatment plan that will outline the necessary bed bug treatment methods.

These bed bug treatment methods may include:
Use of a pyrethroid flushing agent to get bed bugs out of their hiding places.
Treatment of mattress and bed springs depending on the mattress label. *
Disassembly of the bed frame to treat the frame, slats, hollow legs and open springs.
Light pesticide spray treatment of bed tufts, seams, and buttons on the mattress and box spring.
Spray or dusting of cracks around baseboards, bedside furniture and window frames.

Surface treatment of floor areas.
Use of silica gel dusts to treat infested wall voids and attics.
Treatment of the entire residence to remove nests of birds, bats, squirrels or other rodents.
Follow-up bed bug inspection is usually required.

Here are steps for you to take:
Vacuum the infested room, especially the mattress (Discard the vacuum bag when done).
After your bed bug treatment wait until the bed is dry to recover it.
Use a mattress cover before remaking the bed.
Have blankets, pillows and sheets professionally cleaned.
* We do not treat the beds of infants or ill people.
