Spring has just begun. For many people, that means it is time to clean the clutter and dirt that has accumulated during the colder months of winter. To clean every room thoroughly, follow these helpful spring cleaning reminders.
Commonly Overlooked Areas in the Bathroom
One of the most forgotten areas of the bathroom is behind the toilet lid. The tabs to the toilet seat are often covered in dirt and grime. Use a foaming cleaning agent that will penetrate deep into the crevices. While cleaning the bathroom, take down the shower curtain and wash it. Replace the plastic shower liner with a washable fabric liner. All towels and the bath mat should be washed because when they are left damp, mold can grow on them.
The Kitchen
Use these helpful spring cleaning reminders for your kitchen. Remember to clean behind appliances. If they are too heavy to move, use a broom with a long handle to clean those hard-to-reach areas. Clean inside your appliances including the oven, dishwasher, and refrigerator using a mixture of vinegar, lemon juice, dish soap, and water. If you need extra scrubbing power, put your homemade cleaning solution in a spray bottle so that you can spray it over a bit of baking soda to better scrub away the grime.
Laundry Room Spring Cleaning Tips
If the dryer vent becomes clogged with lint, it can cause a fire. Hopefully, you remember to clean out the lint filter each time you do a load of laundry. However, the dryer vent often gets neglected. Loosen the band and clean the dryer’s exhaust vent. Take the tube outside to spray water through it with a garden hose. Make sure it is completely dry before you reattach it.
The Living Room
Two forgotten areas of the living room that need spring cleaning are the ceiling fans and the lamp shades. Wipe down the tops and undersides of ceiling fan blades before switching the rotation to counterclockwise to prepare for warmer weather. Dust the lamp shades with a lint roller that has disposal adhesive sheets. You can also use the lint roller on the surfaces of your couches and chairs. It does a great job of picking up pet hair, dust, and crumbs.
The Bedroom
Under the bed is the most commonly overlooked space to clean in the bedroom. For thorough spring cleaning, physically move the bed to the side so you can vacuum or mop beneath it. Removing dust from under your bed will help you breathe easier at night.
